Amphitheater

Washington Park has this old amphitheater that occasionally used for plays and concerts, and mostly by kids. It has been here since the early 1970's.

  1. It's a shame the city is going to demolish this. I can remember many summer nights packing up the kids, laying in the grass and watching a movie or listening to a band. My oldest granddaughter's Headstart graduation was also held there.

  2. We used to have "local talent" playing concerts here. Too bad about the demolition.

  3. There is a beautiful waterfall on Tulie Creek that you use to be able to get to from the highway that goes up to Ruidoso. Heading east, it is somewhere between the town and the bridge that crosses the creek near the Mescalero Apache reservation. Since they rebuilt the highway, I have lost my landmarks.

  4. They are tearing down the amphitheater in alamogordo currently. I asked about it but was told for numerous reasons. A home nearby said it's probably because of all the vandalism it continues to have from high school students and skaters from skate park. It is a common ground they fight the couple said. I'm sure the maintenance costs also and danger of lawsuit due to accidental falls. There was serious accidents over 20 to 30 years ago there and a death. But mainly safety and vandalism from the teenagers the nieghbor in park said.
