Shooters, Nickels, Nashville West, A bar by any other name.

The end of an era.  This was the last weekend that this bar/nightclub was open.  The owner was tired after twenty-seven years and decided to shut it down.  He made the decision and did it quickly.  This establishment has a long history of being a bar.  It was Nickels before this although it was the same owner.  Back in the 1960's and 1970's it was called Nashville West.  It is close to the base and was the place to go for the younger crowd.

The sign says thanks for the past 27 years.  Hopefully someone will buy it and continue the tradition.  Billy, the owner had changed the name because a storm took the last sign and he bought this one cheap from a defunct bar over in Las Cruces.

  1. For a couple months the bank owned it and so they wouldn't lose the liquor license they had to open it, so a couple of us volunteered to work and we called it Nobodys. It was also called the Buckaroo and you can't forget when it was called the Pink Door and was a strip joint.
