Bridal Veil Falls

New Mexico Rails to Trails held a dedication today for the Bridal Veil Falls Rail Trail. There were quite a few people in attendance to enjoy the new trail and shelter along with information tables and much appreciated water and juice.

A plaque shows that the railroad came right by the falls in the early days of Otero County.

It was a warm clear morning and the Falls were beautiful and cooling.  Water in the desert is just amazing!

  2. It is part of the Rail Trail. You get to it from Fresnal Canyon, either from La Luz going up or High Rolls going down. There is a small parking area called Salado (canyon? point?) - there is a sign. From there it is a 1.3 mile hike. The day of the dedication people were allowed over private property so the hike was shorter. From the falls one can also continue up, half an hour we were told, to the trestle.
